Content Guidelines

Introduction

At SiteBid, our primary goal is to provide an effective advertising platform that serves the best interests of both our advertisers and users. To maintain high standards and ensure a quality user experience, we have established advertising policies that we expect all advertisers to adhere to. SiteBid reserves the right to review, approve, reject, or remove any advertisement at our sole discretion, at any time, with or without notice. SiteBid is not liable for any damages, refunds, or losses resulting from ad removal. Decisions regarding ad removal are final and not subject to appeal. Below, you will find our general advertising guidelines and our content policy.

General Advertising Guidelines

1. Transparency: All advertising content must be clearly identifiable as an advertisement.
2. Honesty and Fulfillment: Advertisers must fulfill the offers and representations as stated in their advertisements, including not altering offer periods, product offers, or prices mentioned in the advertisement.
3. No Deceptive, Misleading, or Impersonation Content: Advertisements must not contain misleading claims, false endorsements, or exaggerated statements that cannot be substantiated.
   1. Ads must not impersonate third-party brands, platforms, government agencies, or news sources.
   2. Ads must not display fake reviews, misleading testimonials, or deceptive pricing information.
   3. Advertisements that resemble system warnings, fake notifications, or deceptive call-to-action buttons are strictly prohibited.
   4. Advertisers must disclose any sponsored or paid partnerships in their ads.
4. Privacy Compliance: Advertisements must not solicit or collect, or appear to solicit or collect, any personally identifiable information from SiteBid users without their knowledge. Advertisers collecting user data must prominently display a link to their privacy policy on their website.
5. Consistent User Experience: Advertisements must not mimic the SiteBid user experience, including the platform’s look and feel, buttons, and navigation.
6. Fair Housing: Advertisements may not discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of dwellings or other housing-related transactions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, and handicap, as specified in the federal Fair Housing Act and all applicable state and local laws.
7. Advertiser Identification: For banner ads, advertisements must prominently display the advertiser’s company name or logo.
8. Advertiser Responsibility: Advertisers must ensure that all claims, pricing, and offers presented in advertisements are truthful, substantiated, and comply with applicable laws. Advertisers assume full legal responsibility for the content, claims, and representations made in their advertisements. SiteBid does not verify the accuracy of advertiser claims and is not liable for any false, misleading, or deceptive content. Advertisers agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SiteBid and its affiliates from any legal claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from their advertisements, including but not limited to:
   1. Consumer complaints, false advertising claims, or regulatory violations.
   2. Trademark or copyright infringement claims.
   3. Financial losses or reputational harm caused by misleading ads.
9. Enforcement of Advertising Policies: Violations of SiteBid’s Advertising Content Policy may result in:
   1. Immediate removal of the advertisement without refund.
   2. Account suspension or permanent ban from advertising on SiteBid.
   3. Referral to law enforcement or regulatory agencies for fraudulent, illegal, or harmful activities.
   4. Legal action against the advertiser for damages, including lost revenue, reputational harm, and collection of unpaid fees.

All advertising content will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the SiteBid content policy outlined below and our Terms of Use. Specific guidelines for Featured Ads images are provided separately.

Advertising Content Policy

The following subjects are either expressly prohibited or allowed under very limited circumstances. While this list is not exhaustive, it provides an overview of the types of ads that are not accepted on SiteBid.

1. Adult/Sexual Content: We do not accept advertisements and associated landing pages containing sexually explicit content or promotions of websites primarily featuring adult content.
2. Aids for Passing Drug Tests: Advertisements for products or sites promoting aids to pass drug tests are not permitted.
3. Alcohol: For Featured Ads, we do not permit advertising of alcoholic beverages.
4. Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia: Advertisements for drugs (both illegal and herbal) and drug-related paraphernalia are not allowed.
5. Fake Documents: Advertising promoting fake identification/documentation of any kind is not accepted.
6. Fireworks/Pyrotechnic Devices: Promotions of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices are not permitted.
7. Gambling Content: Advertisements promoting gambling or wagering are not allowed.
8. Hacking and Cracking: Advertisements promoting hacking or cracking are not permitted.
9. Hate Speech: The promotion or advocacy of hate speech directed at a group or individual is not allowed.
10. Illegal Activity: Promotion of illegal activities, including chain letters, pyramid schemes, and contests, is not permitted.
11. Non-accredited Universities: Only accredited universities may advertise on SiteBid.
12. People Finder Services: Advertising promoting people finder services and similar services is prohibited.
13. Political Content: Political advocacy is allowed in advertising content, but advertisements exploiting divisive political issues for profit are not permitted.
14. Prescription Drugs and Related Content: Advertising related to medical or pharmaceutical products is subject to applicable laws.
15. Profanity: Content that is deemed profane is not allowed in our advertisements.
16. Prostitution: Advertisements for prostitution, regardless of legal status in some areas, are not accepted.
17. Religious Content: Advertisements using religious symbols, rituals, or texts in a mocking or offensive manner are not allowed.
18. Satellite Television Service Providers: We do not accept advertising from satellite television service providers, nor from entities selling satellite receiving equipment or services related to satellite television.
19. Slanderous, Libelous, or Defamatory Content: Advertisements featuring or promoting slanderous, libelous, or defamatory content are not permitted.
20. Software and Dialers: Promoting software such as dialers that activate without a user’s express consent is not allowed.
21. Solicitation of Funds: Only government-registered charities and political organizations are permitted to solicit funds in advertising.
22. Spam/Bulk Marketing: Advertising of bulk marketing products used for unsolicited spam, including non-opt-in email lists and bulk messaging software, is not allowed.
23. Sweepstakes and Free Offers: For Featured Ads, promoting sweepstakes or free offers is not permitted. For banner advertisements, promoting such offers requires prior approval from SiteBid.
24. Tobacco and Cigarettes: For Featured Ads, advertising related to tobacco or tobacco-related products is not permitted.
25. Traffic Devices: Promoting services, devices, or methods to avoid traffic tickets is not allowed in our advertising.
26. Trademarks: Advertisers must have legal authorization to use any trademarked names, logos, or brand materials included in their advertisements. Advertisers may not misrepresent an affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship with any third-party brand unless explicitly permitted. Additionally, advertisers must not engage in misleading or deceptive keyword advertising practices, including purchasing competitors’ brand names as search keywords for paid ads in a way that creates confusion among consumers.
27. Video Descramblers: The promotion of devices used to descramble satellite and cable signals is not allowed.
28. Violence: Sites that promote or glorify violence, suffering, or feature graphic violent content may not advertise on SiteBid.
29. Weapons: Advertisements promoting weapons are not allowed.
30. Webcams/Surveillance Equipment: We permit advertising for sites promoting webcams and surveillance equipment for legitimate use only.

Featured Ad Image Guidelines

1. Image Dimensions: The maximum dimensions allowed for Featured Ad images are width 140 pixels and height 70 pixels.
2. Aspect Ratio: The recommended aspect ratio for Featured Ad images is 2:1 (width:height) for optimal ad display.
3. File Size: The largest file size that can be uploaded is 5 MB.
4. Supported Formats: Supported image formats include BMP, FPX, JPEG, PNG, PSD, and TIFF. (Note: LAB color space is not supported.)
5. Rights and Permissions: To upload an image, you must have all necessary rights to use it in this context and grant SiteBid the rights outlined in the Featured Ad terms.
6. Compliance: All images must adhere to SiteBid’s ad content guidelines outlined above.
